Have a weird ache in your elbow, or has your neck started feeling sore? It may be all your smartphone's fault. "Our bodies weren't meant to hunch forward and hold out a phone all day," says Jaime Quinn, DPT, a physical therapist with the Professional Physical Therapy network. Here, five ways your smartphone could be hurting you—plus how to correct them so you can safely enjoy using your phone.

What's Hurting: Your Thumb

Years ago "BlackBerry thumb" was a big issue because striking the keypad put lots of stress on that finger. Now, even though smartphones have touch screens (which require less pressure), the thumb is still getting its fair share of strain due to overuse, as many people use it to scroll and text.
Correct It: Try your best to mix it up and use other fingers, says Quinn. If you're really feeling pain, consider seeing a doctor, who may recommend a thumb splint to provide support and ease the ache.

What's Hurting: Your Neck

There's a universal texting posture, and it isn't a good one. "I see patients all day because of neck pain due to poor posture—and smartphone usage is contributing to it," says Kenneth K. Hansraj, MD, chief of spine surgery at New York Spine Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine. In one study, Dr. Hansraj found that looking down at your phone puts roughly 60 pounds of pressure on the spine (compared to about a dozen pounds when you're standing up straight). "Over time, you get tenderness in your neck, and your muscles may start to spasm—eventually, your bones can even start to change," says Dr. Hansraj.
Correct It: Rather than tilting your head down, keep it up and bring your phone higher to meet it. "Some people forget you also have a range of motion with your eyes, and that you can look down without tilting your whole head," adds Dr. Hansraj.

What's Hurting: Your Elbow

Keeping your elbow bent in a flexed position (like when you hold your phone out in front of you) may strain the nerves that pass through the elbow joint, causing pain and tingling that can radiate from there to the hand. Also, many people keep their wrists in a fixed position while texting, which can put extra stress on the muscles of the forearm, says Quinn. Straining those muscles may lead to pain at the elbow and wrist, similar to the pain you'd get with tennis or golf elbow.
Correct It: Switch hands often, especially when you're reading an article that requires you to hold your phone for a long time.

What's Hurting: Your Back

It's not just your head that tilts forward to look at your phone. "When you bend your neck and shoulders forward, the muscles in the front get tighter and the ones in back get weaker, so you're reinforcing a muscle imbalance over time," says Quinn. Result: back pain and tension (and potentially more doctor's visits down the line).
Correct It: Throughout the day, really pay attention to your posture. Stand up straight with your shoulders back and make a conscious effort to resist slouching. "Often, people will wait until they're in a lot of pain before they start making any changes," notes Dr. Hansraj. Also, consider doing yoga to increase flexibility in your spine.

What's Hurting: Your Wrist

Ever heard of "text claw"? It's the slightly disturbing, not-exactly-medical name for the pain you get when your wrists are in a fixed texting position for an extended period. This puts you at risk for straining the tendons and joints in your wrist up to your elbow.
Correct It: Alternate hands when you use your phone—it helps not only your elbow, but also your wrists. Try to do most of your daily work at a desktop or laptop, as many people have better ergonomic setups at their computer (such as wrist pads). If you already have serious wrist pain, you may need a brace to keep the joint in neutral, putting less pressure on the soft tissue structures that may have become inflamed, says Quinn.

Ah! Everyone loves the financial perks that a 9-5 job brings to the table. Unfortunately, most of us don’t realize that this oh-so-comfortable schedule is killing our neck and back. Ever heard of the ‘Sitting Disease’? I am not making this up. It’s for real and the Women’s Health Magazine was the first to mention it about 5 years ago.

In a study conducted by the Institute for Medicine and Public Health, nearly 6,300 people spent roughly 56 hours a week sitting in front of their computer screens. The results were shocking. Apart from weakening eyesight, this particular posture had nasty effects on the neck and back, for three main reasons – lack of exercise, lack of sleep, and poor exercise.

lazy man lying on sofaNo Exercise
With absolutely no or little movement, the body parts do become stiff. Hence, it is important to stretch or take a short stroll to keep yourself active physically. Even though it is difficult to get some exercise with a hectic schedule, it is highly recommended that you avoid simply sitting and staring at the computer screen. Physical movement is necessary for spinal stability, strong muscles and maintaining a correct posture.

Improper Diet

A
sedentary lifestyle means you put your diet on the back burner. Always remember that eating healthy helps avoid chronic back and
neck pain
. An article in The Guardian stated that broccoli, in particular, slowed the progress of the most common type of arthritis.
A compound, in broccoli, known as Sulforaphane, is responsible for stopping the degeneration of cartilage in joints. Other dark green leafy vegetables should also be consumed to strengthen the bones. The best way to make sure you eat well is to make a diet plan. Eat salad regularly while working. That way you’re burning calories while working.
Lack of sleep

It is difficult to concentrate on anything else but work when professional demands are high. A study by Arthritis Research UK claims that sleep is a major element that triggers persistent pain in the neck, hips and back.
Even the exact causes of the same are unknown, genes, weight, age and lifestyle are usually taken as the real culprits. Little or no sleep gives no rest to muscles and bones, leading to chronic pain in the neck and back.
As you can see, honouring your professional commitment doesn’t have to come at the cost of your work. Tiny steps, little measures, right choices, and an intelligent lifestyle can help you improve your health and keep the side effects of a sedentary lifestyle at bay.

Back pain is a chronic condition affecting a huge percentage of the population, it is estimated that back pain affects up to 80% of adults at some point in their life. Back pain can interrupt an individual's quality of life and 10 percent of all back pain sufferers end up with a significant disability as the result of the pain.

1. Old Mattress
The life span of a good mattress is approximately 8-10 years and if you have not replaced yours in over ten years, chances are you are doing damage to your spine. You want a mattress that is not too hard, and not too soft, it needs to support your back but still be comfortable enough for you to get a good night's rest.

2. Carry Heavy Bags
This one is particular common with woman but with the increase in men carrying laptops etc. in cases it affects anyone. Carrying a bag of any kind on one shoulder will cause you to be off balanced and cause your spin to curve. As a general rule of thumb a bag should weigh less than 10% of your body weight otherwise you most likely are doing yourself damage!

3. Poor Shoe Choice
Whilst stilettos and other forms of high heels get all the publicity, flats can be just as bad for you. Flats have a tendency to not support your foot correctly and force you to constantly adjust your foot in your shoe, distributing your body weight unevenly. Stilettos on the other hand force you to arch your back for balance putting unnecessary stress on your joints.

4. Sitting All Day
Bad news for the population that has desk jobs, sitting all day whilst it may feel nice at the time is very dangerous on your back, that is unless you maintain a proper posture 8 hours a day 5 days a week day in day out. Not having proper posture is not the only problem that office jobs can cause, sitting puts an extra 50% more pressure on your spin than standing does, ask your office about the option of a standing desk to help you build core strength and minimise the risk of long term injury, or if you must sit make sure you stand and stretch regularly.

5. Stress
Stress causes more than just grey hairs, it causes your whole body to subtly tense up and the muscles in your neck and back do not get a chance to relax.

6. Holding a Grudge
Research has shown that people who practice forgiveness have fewer feelings of depression, anger and physical aches and pains. When emotional your muscles tense causing the strength of your pain signals to be affected.

7. Lack of Exercise
Exercise builds strength and muscle tone, this decreased pressure means that your back and neck don't have to work as hard to support you and you minimise the risk of back pain. Core training exercises that strengthen your back and stomach are the best options.

8. Poor Diet
Not surprisingly weight gain and from a poor diet is one of the leading causes of back pain and can be detrimental for your long term health in many other ways. Some studies suggest that even a 5 to 10 percent drop in body weight can improve the condition of your back exponentially.

But the real remedy for spondylitis treatment ! This is SPONDIN DROPS

People are often seeing seeking the help of chiropractors due to shoulder pain. In fact, it is one of the most common causes to visit a chiropractic wellness centre. Every year, hundreds of people seek chiropractic treatment only because of pain in their shoulders.

Just like any other pain condition, the sooner one gets proper treatment, the quicker he/she will be relieved from the pain. In case you are unsure as what has caused pain in your shoulder or if you don't know much about the specific treatment, then seeking chiropractic help would be your best bet.

Signs of Back Pain for Which You Should Seek Treatment
1. Pain in shoulder that has persisted for a few days
2. Re-occurrence of a long forgotten shoulder pain
3. Inability to pick and carry objects using that arm
4. Any sort of injury which has caused deformity
5. Pain which occurs while resting or during night
6. Inability of a person to raise the affected arm
7. Swelling or bruises around that particular joint/arm
8. Signs of infection, fever, redness, warmth and swelling

Quick Homely Treatments
Treatment for shoulder pain generally depends upon its cause. Hence, if you don't know the cause, try to know more about it either by self-exploration or by visiting a chiropractor. This will ultimately help the chiropractor to devise a custom treatment plan for your case. Apart from getting the chiropractic treatment from a good chiropractor, you can also try the following homely treatments that include:

1. Rest- The first and most common treatment for almost all conditions which cause pain in the shoulders is putting the joint to rest. This helps inflammations of acute level to subside by them self.
2. Ice/Heat Application - Ice packs or heat pads can also be used for treating pain on the go. However, using them correctly is very important. If you are unsure about them, ask an expert.

3. Stretching - Stretching those muscles and tendons which surround the affected shoulder joint can also help to deal with some causes that lead to the pain. However, do it moderately.

4. Exercise - Rehabilitation exercises can also play an important part, however, one should know as which exercises are best. Some can make the condition worse too, so try them with due knowledge.

5. Anti-Inflammatory Medication - Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain can also help people who are struggling with shoulder pain. However, their long-term usage must be avoided.

6. Cortisone Injections - Cortisone is another powerful medication which can treat inflammation in patients who are suffering from shoulder pain. They should, though, never be relied on always.
Chiropractors are uniquely qualified in the science of restoring health of the spine and neck. The above treatments aren't something to be relied on totally; however, doing/taking them along with a specialised chiropractic treatment can prove to be great.
